Houlton, Maine – The F.A. Peabody Company (FAPCO) has been named as a 2024 Best Places to Work in Maine business by the Maine State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management, Best Companies Group, and BridgeTower Media. FAPCO earned an impressive 12th place in the medium size business category, among the 63 award recipients.
The Best Places to Work in Maine award identifies, recognizes and honors the best places of employment in Maine in three categories: small employer companies (15-49 U.S. employees), medium employer companies (50-249 U.S. employees) and large employer companies (250 or more U.S. employees). To be considered, companies must have at least 15 full-time or part-time employees working in Maine; be a for-profit or not-for-profit business or government entity; be a publicly or privately held business; have a facility in the state of Maine; and be in business a minimum of one year.
Best Companies Group, a national human resource management consulting organization, managed the overall registration and survey process and analyzed the data using their expertise to determine the final rankings. There were two parts used to determine the rankings. The first consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices and demographics, worth approximately 25 percent of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience, which consisted of 75 percent of the total. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings.
The F.A. Peabody Company, which includes F.A. Peabody Insurance, Pioneer Broadband, and FAPCO Administrative Services, has earned the honor of being included in the list in the medium employer category in 2014 and 2019, and now in 2024. Chelsea Henderson, Vice President of Human Resources, says, “The Best Places to Work in Maine designation is an honor and a testament to the hard-working individuals that make up our organization. Most importantly, the designation provides us with detailed and vital feedback that can help guide the organization in its understanding of what is most important to our workforce. It offers us an opportunity to listen and reflect and find ways to design our HR practices for our current and future workforce.”
“This year’s Best Places to Work in Maine winners know a positive environment is vital for innovative teams to thrive. They make sure their staffers feel appreciated, engaged and successful, which leads to growth in other areas of business,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, managing director of BridgeTower Media for the East Division. “BridgeTower Media is pleased to join the Maine State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management and the Best Companies Group
in congratulating this year’s Best Places to Work in Maine winners.”
The winners were honored October 8, 2024 at a celebration at the Augusta Civic Center. A publication featuring the winners was distributed at that event and available digitally at BESTPLACESTOWORKME.com.
